Athletes is a project that interweaves dance, sport and vocality
exploring the athletic gesture as a form of resistance and
transformation. At the centre is a heterogeneous community of
people who through movement and collective practice
create alliances and unprecedented forms of chorality. The choreographic research is inspired by the mosaic of the Palestriti of Villa del Casale, in Piazza Armerina, depicting ten female athletes intent on practising sport and its celebration. Athleticism, often associated competition and extreme physical performance, is here
reinterpreted as a space of discovery accessible to all bodies, thanks to the gesture and its radiance in the performative act
