An irreverent and cynical study of the archetypes of human misery, inexpressiveness, and despicable cruelty in interpersonal relationships. Losers in a superficial relationship, they face each other in a cold duel in which anything goes: at stake is the affirmation of a role, an identity, a social position, survival. Beast without beauty is an attempt to physically recount the pain of living, Beckettian paralysis: a man who has become languid, desperate to the point of insensitivity, now incapable of taking control of his life and rescuing it from the misery in which it is mired. A theatre of the absurd (in which, despite ourselves, we suffer the absurd) with the existentialist and post-existentialist flavour of Beckett’s theatre.
